The Old Globe proudly announces the cast and creative team for the highly anticipated San Diego premiere of Appropriate, the Tony Award-winning play by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Directed by Steve H. Broadnax III (Thoughts of a Colored Man, Sally & Tom), the searing and bitingly funny family drama will play from January 25 to February 23, 2025, at the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

A Darkly Comic Portrait of Family, History, and Legacy
Described by The New York Times as “subversively original… remarkable and devious,” Appropriate follows the estranged Lafayette siblings as they gather to settle their late father’s Arkansas estate. Amid the clutter, they uncover a shocking relic that forces them to confront buried secrets and unresolved resentments. As tensions rise and cicadas roar outside, the family is forced to reckon with unsettling truths that have shaped them for generations.
